The Hedge Park Renovation Committee consists of community leaders throughout Southern Indiana. The organization has worked diligently with volunteers from The Estopinal Group (an architectural firm in Jeffersonville) to design the parks master plan. The organization is committed to making the park friendly to children with disabilities as well as to all children and all adults. There is really no other public park in the community like the one we have planned.
The Hedge Park Renovation Committee mission is to renovate the park playground to become the City's first developmentally advantageous playground. Children in the Jeffersonville community who have disabilities can share with children without disabilities, the yearning for healthy, safe recreation. Children with disabilities want to play and should be able to play alongside their siblings and friends. The playground will touch the lives of many disadvantaged children in the community. Some are disadvantaged economically, while others are disadvantaged due to mental and physical disabilities. This project takes determination and encourages community collaboration to create an opportunity for all children. We wish to see children of all abilities playing and learning together. All children regardless of disability will benefit from playing with others. Everyone, including adults, will benefit from the opportunities that will be provided by the renovation. We will be able to gauge our progress and success of the park renovation by the laughs, giggles and warm smiles of all community children playing together at the Bob Hedge Park.
